Asos’ head of commercial change and operations Anthony Benham has left the business after 16 years at the online-only fashion retailer.

Benham joined Asos in 2006 as a senior merchandiser for menswear before being promoted to retail project manager and business change partner.

In 2016, he became the senior business change partner for the company’s Truly Global Retail arm, a position he held for over five years.

Prior to Asos, he worked at John Lewis, where he held the position of a merchandiser. He has also held senior positions at Debenhams and the Arcadia Group.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Benham said: ” After 16 years and 9 months, I left Asos on Friday. The word journey is often used but for me, it definitely applies to my time at Asos. Both professionally and personally, I have dealt with an enormous amount of change.

“Asos grew from a £50 million business to the multi-billion pound company it is today and I loved every minute of it. It was extremely challenging at times but unbelievably rewarding.”

He went on to thank the team at the online fashion retailer and revealed he is “excited to see what opportunities are out there” for the next step of his career.

The news follows Asos launching a £75 million refinancing deal due to dampening losses.

The online retail giant, which recently reported a half-year loss due to “ongoing challenges in the operating environment”, has agreed to a new long-term £275 million asset-based financing facility with Bantry Bay until April 2026, replacing its current facilities which were due to expire next year.
