Doctor Who is no stranger to the world of audio dramas, particularly those released by British publisher Big Finish. The publisher has created various adventures for the first twelve Doctors and their various companions ever since 1991, with Jodie Whittaker’s current 13th incarnation having been locked off due to current licensing rights. That, however, is finally set to change with a new pair of audio adventures.
2017’s Thor: Ragnarok really revamped Thor’s journey and his place in the MCU. Tonally, that film is a massive pivot from its two predecessors, leaning into the comedic side of the franchise while also growing much bigger and weirder. That’s the power of director Taika Waititi. Ultimately, however, Ragnarok is all about forcing Thor to confront his destiny as the heir to Asgard’s throne. Thor deals with the destruction of Mjolnir, learning that the hammer is merely a tool that helped him control the true power within himself. By the end of Ragnarok, Thor has unleashed his true potential and followed in his father’s footsteps, sacrificing an eye to prove himself worthy to rule Asgard.
The behind-the-scenes image was shared on Trevorrow’s Twitter page in response to a fan asking if the director had any “rad” never before seen images from the set. The image is of Neill’s Grant standing in silhouette wearing his signature fedora. He appears to be in an old railroad tunnel. It really does not tell us anything new about the story, and we have already seen Neill throughout all the marketing so far, but it is an epic shot nonetheless. It is a shot that brings back all the nostalgic feelings of watching Jurassic Park for the first time. Scenes like the infamous reaction shot of Grant seeing dinosaurs for the first time come flooding back into your mind with an image like this.
