Paris-based Medicaim raises €1.2 million to facilitate global medical care #StartUps

The young Parisian startup Medicaim, which has developed a platform to facilitate access to the world’s most recognised healthcare institutions, has just raised €1.2 million from private investors such as Laurent Ritter (Voodoo), Flavien Kulawik (KLB Group) and Didier Valet, former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Société Générale.

With this substantial first round of financing, the startup wants to become a leader in the healthcare market and make medical care accessible to all. Founded in 2017 by the duo Adrien Rebot (a former financial market advisor) and Géraldine Grauzam (a general practitioner), Medicaim connects patients with accredited clinics and hospitals around the world. In this way, Medicaim offers an alternative to patients who cannot access affordable, quality care in their country of residence.

The French team plans tailor-made medical stays for patients wishing to travel to benefit from high quality care, whether they are suffering from heavy pathologies (cancer, cardio, etc.) or in search of lighter procedures (aesthetic, dental). The startup’s overall objective is to simplify access to the best establishments and specialists in the context of high value-added patient journeys with complete care: booking, insurance, transport and post-operative care. Today, the platform has nearly 900 medical procedures listed in more than 50 partner hospitals and clinics.

“The fundraising objective is to allow Medicaim to continue to structure itself and accelerate its development through the platform improvement and the acquisition of new patients. We are very pleased to open our capital to such experienced investors on whom we can now rely on. I would like to thank them warmly for their support and their renewed confidence despite the health crisis we are currently experiencing,” said Adrien Rebot, President of Medicaim.

Medicaim will also be able to count on its independent scientific committee chaired by gastroenterologist and hepatologist Jean-David Zeitoun, and the urology doctor Sébastien Beley. The committee role will be overseeing the most complex patient cases, the doctors recommendations by their peers within their specialty, covering even the rarest diseases.

Faced with the magnitude of the Covid-19 global health crisis, Medicaim was able to react by diversifying its activities through the development of a claims management tool for health insurers, healthcare institutions and companies. The startup also announced the expansion of the use of its teleconsultation system, which was previously used for post-operative care. In the coming days, Medicaim will be available to patients worldwide via teleconsultation, benefiting not only French practitioners but also multiple nationalities.
