Azahara Espejo, of Crowdcube, will talk at the EU-Startups Summit on how equity crowdfunding can help close the gender gap #StartUps

On the 28th-29th of May 2020, we’re hosting the 7th edition of the EU-Startups Summit in Barcelona – will you join us? This 2-day event will give you the chance to meet over 1,500 participants (founders, startup enthusiasts, corporates, angel investors, VCs, and media), learn from 70+ expert speakers, take part in workshops with internationally successful founders, network (via our app!) and bite your nails through our exciting pitch competition.

Today we are excited to announce a new speaker: Azahara Espejo, Head of Business Development Spain at Crowdcube. At the EU-Startups Summit, she will join us on the workshop stage to share her insights on How to leverage equity crowdfunding to increase women representation in the entrepreneur and investor community’.

Female representation in the entrepreneurship scene is severely lacking, from women founders, to women investors. Today things are changing, in part thanks to new forms of democratisation, like alternative financing models. The accessibility of equity crowdfunding has already revolutionised financing for startup teams that would otherwise not get a foot in the door with venture capital firms, and its influence doesn’t stop there. Crowdcube is part of this movement, and is on a mission to get behind the companies that want to leave a mark on the world. Bringing more visibility and diversity to the scene is it’s mission.

Azahara, as Head of Business Development Spain for Crowdcube, will share her expertise on the under-representation of female founders, the “you can’t be what you can’t see” hypothesis, the power of equity crowdfunding, and how you can get involved as both as a female investor, female founder or overall supporter of female-led ventures.

If you’d like to join us, there’s still time to secure your ticket to the EU Startups Summit 2020 in sunny Barcelona. Get inspired by our video below, or check out our information here (to be updated on a weekly basis). We look forward to seeing you there!
