One such mod, dubbed "Halo: Reach Evolved," completely overhauls the Campaign and Firefight modes, allowing old and new players alike to experience Halo: Reach in a completely new way. Here's everything you need to know about the mod, including an overview of what it contains, where you can download it, and who made it.

So, what does Halo: Reach Evolved do?

At it's core, Halo: Reach Evolved is a project that aims to completely overhaul the sandbox of Halo: Reach using inspiration from the original three Halo games. According to the mod author, who spoke to us, the goal was to add completely new content that would offer a new gameplay experience, while also making sure everything still felt like it belonged in a Halo game and wasn't too crazy.

Halo: Reach Evolved brings numerous additions to Halo: Reach that shake up its formula.

Another design goal was to make every weapon in the game a viable choice on Legendary difficulty. This is because with vanilla Halo: Reach, only a small amount of weapons were worth using against the deadly foes you face on Legendary. Some things you'll find within Reach Combat Evolved include DMRs that have burst firing, longer-range shotguns, Spikers that shoot like shotguns, a special variant of the Revenant Covenant vehicle that shoots streams of flame instead of plasma mortars, and other sandbox items.

On top of that, there are new Covenant enemy types that add new twists to combat, such as Elites that use a physical energy shield in conjunction with an Energy Sword. You can even "hijack" a Hunter as if it was a vehicle and plant a grenade inside of the worms. Now that's badass! For a first-hand look at what the mod brings to the table, check out the gameplay video above.

The mod isn't fully completed yet on PC, but currently, the campaign mission "Winter Contingency" and the Firefight map "Beachhead" are available to play with the mod. The mod author plans to finish the Campaign first, then finish making the mod work with the rest of the Firefight maps.
