You can build a Weebly website for free (although there will be ads on it), while its paid plans range from £4 to £28 per month.

A combo of low prices and impressive performance earned Weebly an unbeatable 5/5 value for money score in our in-depth testing.

However, there’s strong competition in the web builder space, with high-calibre rivals like Wix and Squarespace offering feature-packed plans at similar prices.

So, what exactly do you get with each Weebly plan, and what other fees do you need to worry about?

Read on to find out.

This guide will cover:

Weebly pricing plans

Weebly has a pretty impressive free plan, and four paid plans:

  • Weebly Connect: £4 per month
  • Weebly Pro: £9 per month
  • Weebly Business: £18 per month
  • Weebly Business Plus: £28 per month

We’ll take a close look at each of these below.

Weebly Connect – £4 per month

Pros
  • Low-cost plan
  • Adds custom domain
Cons
  • Only minor improvement on free plan
  • Your site will still have Weebly ads

Price per year: £48 (works out to £4 per month)

Monthly payment plan: not available

It’s hard to really recommend this plan as the only real benefit it offers over Weebly’s free plan is a custom domain. That’s nice to have, but you’ll still be paying at least £4 a month for a site plastered with Weebly ads.

Weebly Pro – £9 per month

Pros
  • Cheapest plan that removes Weebly ads
  • Lets you sell online
  • Phone support
Cons
  • Only includes basic ecommerce features

Price per year: £108 (works out to £9 per month)

Price on rolling monthly plan: £14 per month (an extra £60 a year in total)

The £9 per month Weebly Pro plan is a great fit for small businesses that want to quickly and easily sell online. You’ll be able accept online payments via both Square and third-party providers, access phone support and get rid of those pesky Weebly ads.

However, you’ll need to upgrade for advanced ecommerce tools.

Weebly Business – £18 per month

Pros
  • Comprehensive ecommerce features, including inventory management and shipping calculator
  • Pop-up notifications
  • Advanced ecommerce statistics
Cons
  • Some ecommerce features are still lacking

Price per year: £216 (works out to £18 per month)

Price on rolling monthly plan: £26 per month (an extra £96 per year in total)

The £18 per month Weebly Business plan is perfect for businesses with serious online ambitions. While it may cost twice as much as the Pro plan, you get a load of extra ecommerce functionality for that extra outlay. Think inventory management tools, customisable items, coupon codes, item reviews, a shipping calculator, and advanced ecommerce stats so you can track exactly what is and isn’t selling.

In short, the Business plan gives you almost everything you need to supercharge your online sales.

Weebly Business Plus – £28 per month

Pros
  • Abandoned cart emails
  • Real-time shipping calculator
Cons
  • Only a modest improvement on the Business plan

Price per year: £336 (works out to £28 per month)

Price on rolling monthly plan: £32 (an extra £48 per year in total)

Weebly Business Plus is a bit of a tough sell. It costs £10 more per month than the Business plan and, for that, you get automatic abandoned cart emails and a real-time shipping calculator that displays accurate rates based on weight, destination and carrier. Both of these are nice to have but hardly essential, and you should carefully consider just how much they would help your business.

Does Weebly have a free plan, and is it good for my business?

Yes, Weebly has a free plan, and it’s a pretty decent one as free plans go.

You get 500MB of storage, both chat and email support, and even some nice SEO functionality.

However, Weebly’s free plan is not suitable for business use.

Your web address will be Weebly branded (e.g. myawesomebusiness.weebly.com) and covered in Weebly ads. This will make you look unprofessional and put off potential customers.

You’ll also miss out on tons of extra features, and you can’t sell online with a Weebly free plan.

For business use, you really need to get a Weebly paid plan.

Weebly costs: billing cycles, ongoing costs, and additional fees

Billing cycles

As we covered above, Weebly’s published prices are based on annual billing.

In other words, you pay for a year up front and pay the equivalent of £9 per month for the Pro plan, £18 per month for the Business plan etc.

You can also pay monthly, but this will be more expensive overall.

  • Pro plan – £14 per month (an extra £60 a year)
  • Business plan – £26 per month (an extra £96 a year)

And if you really love Weebly and want to save some cash, you can sign up for two years upfront.

On the Pro plan, this saves you £168 over two years compared to paying monthly, and brings the equivalent monthly cost down to £7 per month.

And on the Business plan, you’ll save £240 compared to paying monthly and pay the equivalent of £16 a month.

Domain costs

If you’ve never heard of a domain, it’s the www. bit that functions as the online “address” of your business.

In short, it’s pretty damn important, and you need to pay for it.

With Weebly, when you need to pay depends on which plan you sign up to.

The Pro, Business and Business Plus plans all come with a free domain for the first year and you’ll need to renew at Weebly’s standard rates after that.

These are:

  • £13 for one year
  • £22 for two years (breaks down to £11 a year, a 15% saving)
  • £49 for five years (breaks down to £9.80 a year, a 25% saving)
  • £82 for 10 years (breaks down to £8.20 a year, a 37% saving)

The Weebly App Center

Like most web builders, Weebly has a well-stocked app center that is packed with apps to add extra features and improve your website.

Some of these apps are free, but many come with extra charges that can range from a few pounds to hundreds of pounds a month.

Of course, you don’t have to use paid apps, but it’s definitely a potential cost you should bear in mind.

Wix – our top web builder

Weebly’s £9 per month Pro plan places it squarely in Wix territory. Our top overall web builder for small businesses, Wix’s £9.50 per month Unlimited plan gives you access to most of what Wix has to offer, with a huge range of templates, design options, and advanced SEO and analytics. However, in order to sell online, you’ll need to upgrade to the £13 per month Business Basic plan.

Square Ecommerce – start selling online for free

If you’re just looking to start selling online as cheaply as possible, then you might want to consider Square ecommerce. With Square’s free plan, you can create your website and start selling for free – you just need to pay a 1.9% (for UK and European cards) transaction fee when you make a sale.

Final thoughts: is Weebly worth it?

Weebly is a solid basic web builder and ecommerce platform that had a perfect 5/5 value for money score in our testing.

Indeed, its £9 per month Pro plan is one of the cheapest ways to start selling online, with phone support and the ability to accept a variety of payments. The £18 per month Business plan is also good value, adding advanced features like inventory management, shipping calculators and ecommerce statistics that tell you what is and isn’t selling.

Like the vast majority of web builders, Weebly’s advertised prices are based on annual billing, so watch out for that, and you’ll also have to factor in the cost of domain renewal and any paid apps you might want to use.

Weebly’s rather simplistic take on website creation won’t be to everyone’s taste, but if you just want to quickly, easily and cheaply get your online store off the ground, then Weebly could be a great fit.

Weebly pricing FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is Weebly really free?
Yes, Weebly does have a completely free plan. However, your site will be covered in Weebly ads, have a Weebly branded domain and you won’t be able to sell online with the free plan. This makes it a very poor fit for small businesses.
  • Is Wix or Weebly better?
Wix is our top overall web builder and offers much deeper customisation and more features than Weebly. However, some may prefer Weebly’s more simplistic approach, and it’s cheaper to start selling online with Weebly.
  • What are the fees for Weebly?
Weebly offers a range of plans ranging from free (for a site covered in Weebly ads) to £28 per month (which gives access to advanced ecommerce tools). You also need to consider domain name costs and app center app subscription charges.
